Apple Treat - Back to School

Back to School
It's kinda exciting
It's a little stressful
But here's a fun treat for your student or teacher:

I made these!! Aren't they cute? I went to the DOLLAR STORE, and found little red dip/tart containers (3 pack bonus!). Then I bought a package of Hot Tamales to put inside! Fill a plastic baggie with your goodies and put in the container! Use some paper and make the stem and leaf, then tape it on! Quick, easy and fun! Plus is looks super cute!
Good Luck in School! :)

Newspaper Bag

today I stumbled over a wonderful little tutorial of gift bags made from the Wall Street Journal. You can vary the dimensions, of course, but here's what I used to create a bag that's 5" tall, 4.5" wide, and 3" deep.

Stack two sheets of newspaper on top of each other. This will be a two-ply bag for extra sturdiness.

Cut out a rectangle that's 15.5" wide and 8.25" tall. If your paper already has a fold in it, align the existing fold with one of the fold lines in the diagram below, unless you don't mind an extra fold appearing somewhere on your bag. I cut out this rectangle, then flipped the paper over so the blue area would be on the outside of the bag.

Fold a flap 1.25" down from the top. Fold a flap 2" up from the bottom. Then measure off and make vertical folds in the places shown in the diagram above. The front and back panels are 4.5" wide, the side gussets are 3" wide, and you'll need a 0.5" flap for gluing the bag together.

Cut two pieces of cardstock or chipboard to 4.25" x 1", then glue them on the widest two panels just under the top fold. These will reinforce the rim of the bag. Glue the top flap down along the length of the bag, covering the cardstock. Since the bag is two-ply, you'll need to glue both flap pieces down one at a time.

Put glue on the outside of the 0.5" tab and bring the left-most panel over to form the body of the bag, aligning the cut edge of the panel with the folded edge of the flap. Add a little more glue to make sure the outermost sheet of newsprint gets tacked down, too.

Upend the bag so the 2" flap is now up. Fold the short sides inward as if you were wrapping a present. If it seems easier, you could also lay the bag on its side and crease those folds against the table.

Put glue on both flaps and fold them inward to form the bottom of the bag. Standing the bag upright and pressing down from the inside will help to secure them.

Cut a piece of chipboard to 4" x 2.5" and glue it to the bottom of the bag to reinforce it and hide the flaps if you want to be an overachiever.

Punch holes in the rim of the bag, adding eyelets if you like, and string some cord through the holes to form handles. Knot each end of the cord so it won't pull out through the holes.

Albert Berghetti

Albert Berghetti! This is a kid's favorite and one of my favorites as well! I made this in middle school in Mrs. Benson's class! Yes, I actually held onto it for that long, and I still use it! Albert Berghetti and his plate of spaghetti! While you read the poem on the back of the folder, pull the string (aka spaghetti) until you finish the poem! It's a ton of fun and the kids will want you to read it over and over again! I have also seen something like this but you have a poster with a face on it (it could be as simple as a smiley face) and everyone sings a song. If the kids are singing good and loud then the poster face will eat the spaghetti faster! It's a great way to get kids to participant! Here's the poem to Albert Berghetti:

Don't Eat Pete Game

I love this game! I use this game when I am babysitting, teaching primary or hanging out with the daycare kids! Kids love it, it's fun and simple! I used this template and colored it with coloring pencils then I laminated it so that I can disinfect it and use it again! Great game!

For the Kids-Butterfly Snack Pack

I wanted to do something fun for the daycare kids and the 4-H CloverBuds! I grabbed inspriation from another blog and created this cute idea! This craft is simple, easy, fun and so cute!

All you need is:
-SNACK size plastic bag
-2 googly eyes
-wooden clothes pin
-Pipe Cleaner
1) Place a dab of hot glue on the top of the clothes pin (by where it opens at)
2) Before the glue dries, place the two googly eyes on the glue and firmly press down!

3) Take the snack size plastic bag and fill it with treats/snacks! Use snacks such as Pretzels, animal crackers, fruit snacks, cherrios and other cereals, popcorn, dried fruitM&M, marshmellows, goldfish!
4) Don't fill the bag all the way, leave some room to pinch and twist on the pipe cleaner.
5) Add the pipe cleaner and twist to securely hold the bag! This creates the butterfly's wings!
 6) Use the googly eyed clothes pin, open and clasp right in the middle of the bag

7) Bend the pipe cleaners in any way or shape to create the desired look! Now you have a cute little butterfly snack, that kids love to make!
Ah....cute!

I hope you enjoy these and try them at home! Have fun!
